A house with tradition ...

Hans Grisebach designed Villa Röhl in 1887. They finished building in 1888. Villa Röhl was owned by Family Wahllaender and Gropius until the mid thirties of this century. Famous family member Walter Gropius, Architect and Founder of the renowned National "Bauhaus Weima", used the mension as his summer residence.

Auguste Wahllaender, grand aunt of Walter Gropius, moved into the house in 1889 and stayed until September 1932, the year in which the family moved to London. The great hospitility towards all friends and guests has since been well remembered. Famous guests were M. Breuer, Wassily Kandinsky (since 1922), Gerhard und Dietrich Marks (1907) and Lyonel Feininger (since 1922).
